It has been a few years since I've put words to blogging, but I feel like the time is right. I started blogging all the way back in 2007, initially through Blogspot and Typepad, and I've missed it. I initially ended up when the juggle of a full time job, motherhood, creating and running a household became too much.
Fast forward ten an a bit years later, nine house moves, married, three kids and about four business restarts.... I'm still here painting away. My name is Alicia Rogerson, I'm in my mid thirties and I live in the rural country town of Bridgetown. It is picturesque, a relatively quiet place, and has a nickname of Fridgetown for those winter months where the fog lingers until around 11am and the air has a chill.
I'm inspired by my dreams and my imagination. I find creativity to be an essential part to my existence, without it a part of me is lost. There have been many times in my life I have been unable to create and looking back I see those times as a struggle.
I draw and I paint using reference images as a starting tool, but just letting my hands and mind travel along until something forms on the canvas. I'm surrounded in my studio by things - supplies, collections, objects, anything that makes my heart flutter and sing.
I don't work set hours, I'm always juggling one thing or another, but I love my life and I love being able to make the art that I do.
