Visits / Workshops

I am eager for the next generation to be as excited about creating art as I am. There is great enjoyment in sharing my knowledge, teaching new skills and inspiring the next generation of artists both young and old.

I am available for book week, school visits, children’s workshops, community presentations or interactive events. The wonderful part is that if we cannot do an in person visit I could be available online for a wonderful experience live and on video.

I can present all types of talks to any size audience and I enjoy facilitating workshops. There are endless possibilities!

If you are interested in discussing any project you may have in mind, please email me or send me a message via my contact page.

What do you do at a visit?

Gain an insight into the amazing life of being a children’s book illustrator. Topics can include

  • General overview of my journey/career

  • How to be a children’s book illustrator

  • Focus on nature, Australiana, conservation with “The Book of Australian Trees”

  • Focus on conservation, sustainability, wildlife or endangered animals with “One Potoroo”

My visits are interactive, I have lots of interesting experience to share. I may also bring really cool props that even adults may not have seen before.

Hint - My tree talks bring along a dangerous prop that always brings a gasp of surprise.

I am happy to work with you on what can compliment your program/event.

Workshops

Generally workshops can be presented for 10-15 participants at a time. All workshops can be adapted. Themes might include the following -

  • How to illustrate

  • Portraits

  • Painting techniques (ie paint, watercolour)

  • Drawing techniques

  • How to create a colouring in book page

All workshops are interactive and include demonstrations.

Types of Appearances

I am available to attend in person events. I am based in the South West of Western Australia.

I love to accomodate virtual visits (using zoom, microsoft teams or similar platforms.)

I can accomodate a variety of audience sizes and have extensive experience. I work with all age groups, whether a child or an adult that is a child at heart. :)

Previous hosts include the Bridgetown Family and Community Centre, Greenbushes Community Centre, City of Kalamunda, City of Swan, City of Wanneroo, Fremantle Arts Centre, Pecha Kucha, Propel Youth Arts and many schools.

In addition I have extensively worked with mentoring and advising work experience students from schools, TAFE and universities as well as advising and consulting with emerging artists.

For me making art is essential and part of my everyday life. Art is about connection but also about inspiration.

Stories can be told through words, pictures but also the way we make those marks on a page. Don’t be afraid to express yourself.
